Superb stuff in Mariembourg!

Best overall team-result ever with P3 en P4!

What a race, that 20th October in Mariembourg! Due to a busy schedule and Dante being sick with the flu, bar to none race-practice for the boys.

Despite these difficult conditions (Dante was still sick on race day), the boys were in the right type of mood. They immediately showed this with a P1 and P2 in warm-up with a half-wet track, Dante lapping 1.5 seconds faster (!!) than the rest of the field. Nuts!

When qualification time came round, the track was fully dried resulting in a tough fought battle.  Dante and Brent ended up with the 4th and 5th bested time, respectively. That looked good for the race heats!

In those race heats, both drivers managed to finish in the top 5 each time. We saw them doing some nice and clean overtakes, picking up important points for the championship.

The finale saw Dante flirting with P2, but after being pushed onto the grass by a not-so-clean move from a competitor, he had to settle for P3. All-in-all, an amazing result given the fierce competition, the sickness and the lack of training. Amazing and unseen stuff!!

Brent managed to cross the finish in 4th place in a tough final. Having started on the bad outside line, he had to put in some nice and clean overtakes. He then drove away from the pack securing his 4th place, in what may have been his best race day so far, considering his pace and overtakes.

We returned home satisfied. Dante still a bit sick, but despite all that a phenomenal drive and a podium richer. What a dream drive!

Brent on his side again showed the tremendous progress he made the past races, despite having no decent practice. Quicker race-pace, good race starts and more guts in the overtaking moves while keeping 'em clean.  Very promising!

We're now looking forward to the GK4 Grand Final in Genk (17th November)! See you there!

Again on the podium in Genk!

P3 and P5 despite a troublesome day.

What a day at the wonderful circuit of Genk, where we raced during the 2nd round of the GK4 BeNeLux championship.

Troubles started in qualifying: motor mount issues resulted in Dante losing the chain midway the session, while Brent was hindered numerous times by slower competitors. To make matters worse, Dante's kart was plagued with brake issues throughout the day, with not enough time to fix them due to the too tight schedule that day.

Troubles continued in race heat one, where the efforts of a good start for both drivers were undone by a clash of competitors. Both drivers had to swerve to the dirty part of the track and the grass, resulting in a huge loss of time. A very disappointing P12 and P13 were the result.

Race heat 2 saw both drivers taking back some places, placing them nicely for a great run in the finals, seeing both drivers cutting through the field to take a well-deserved P3 (Dante) en P5 (Brent).

Dante again on the podium and Brent right behind, picking up some very important points for the championship, in which they now rank 4th (Dante) en 6th (Brent).

Hoping for better luck during the upcoming 3rd round of the GK4 BeNeLux championship (7 juli). Let's go!

Third consecutive podium  finish for SBD!

Raceweekend GK4 Mariembourg :

P2 en P6 Rotax Max Senior for SBD Racing

What a raceweekend !!!

The sunny Mariembourg was the place to be for the first GK4 race of the 2024 season.

After an intensive training day on Friday April 12, we were ready on Sunday morning. First we had to sort out the admin, go through the technical inspection and briefing and we could start our warm-up session around 9:00 AM. .

Then we were ready for the real stuff. During the quali, it quickly became clear that it was going to be an intense race: the leading group was clearly evenly matched and mixing the Rotax Max Seniors with the Juniors made the race more difficult. A solid result was achieved and Dante was able to start in P5, Brent in P6 for the Seniors.

During race 1, the left lane was held up at the rolling start due to a driver error by P2 and Dante had to step up his game to eliminate the lost positions. Brent was involved in a racing incident caused by an over-enthusiastic Junior. Result: Dante P6, Brent P10, a broken handlebar, broken gloves and some abrasions.

On to race 2: Dante managed to work his way up to P4 despite some engine problems and Brent did the necessary work to advance to P8.

And then the race final. Both riders had a good start and were completely focused. It was a very exciting race, with beautiful overtakes and good defense of the racing line. Despite the difficult nature of the race, our riders were able to achieve a great result. Brent achieved a nice 6th place within the category and Dante was able to secure a beautiful 2nd place

We are very proud of the results achieved, the personal growth and the good mindset of our riders.  We are ready for the rest of the GK4 season!!!

SBD on the podium again!

18 November 2023

In the finals of the GK4 race series at the wonderful circuit of Genk, it was Dante Spaepen who drove to a podium for SBD! Always cool and in control, he drove to a well deserved P2 in abismal circumstances.

The rain kept pouring down in Genk during the the 3 race heats. By the time the finals started, the circuit had become a treacherous place, with puddles in some corners. But Dante, on cloud nine all day, kept his head cool and stayed out of trouble in the first chaotic laps. Making no mistakes and keeping a good pace, he breezed to second place!.

Congrats!!!

And with that, the 2023 racing season came to an end. What a year! Our first racing season, with each driver getting a podium finish. Look out 2024, here we come!

P2 in the rain!

29 July 2023

Amazing day for the SBD team at the 4th race of the GK4 race series at the Genk circuit. Both Dante and Brent showed amazing pace in the 2 final race sessions of the day, lapping 1 to 2 seconds faster (!!) than their next rivals.

Unfortunately, Dante was rear-ended by an IAME driver in lap 5.  As a consequence, he had to chase the pack and lost the podium position, but showed resilience and was able to fight back to an amazing P5.

Brent finished 13 seconds (!!) ahead of the next Rotax driver to take an incredible first podium in the Rotax class in the difficult conditions.

Congrats to both drivers! And that in our first racing season!

Next stop: the Mariembourg circuit for the 5th race of the GK4-series (end of September).
